Section 1:TITLE:The value of thin-section CT in the diagnosis of solitary pulmonary noduleObjective:To analyze the value of slice thickness selection for the diagnosis of solitary pulmonary nodules (SPN).Methods:One hundred and six patients (73 lung cancers,13 tuberculosis,4 hamartomas,9 sclerosing hemangiomas,5 pneumonias,1 inflammatory pseudotumor and 1 organizing pneumonia) were included in this study,5mm and 1-1.25mm thickness images were reviewed by two experienced thoracic radiologists blinded to the pathological results. The prospective values of malignancy were given by two radiologists for 5mm and 1-1.25mm thickness images according to zero for the benign and 1 for the malignancy. And t test was used for the statistical analysis. Results:The prospective value of malignancy was 0.712 and 0.623 in 1-1.25mm thickness images and 5mm thickness images. The diagnostic accuracy in 1-1.25mm images (87.7%) was higher than that in 5mm images (78.3%) (p<0.05). The malignant signs were found more in 1-1.25mm(292) images than 5mm images(227) (p<0.001).Conclusion:1-1.25mm images are needed for the diagnosis of solitary pulmonary nodules and the diagnostic accuracy is associated with the selection of slice thickness. Section 2:TITLE:Contrast-enhanced CT in thediagnosis of solitary pulmonarynoduleObjective:To analyze the efficacy of enhanced CT scan in the diagnosis of solitary pulmonary nodules. Methods:One hundred and six patients confirmed by pathology or clinic treatment were included.5 mm slice thickness images, thin-section (1-1.25 mm) plain and enhanced images were observed by two experienced radiologists without the pathological results, we use 0 for benign,1 for malignant tumor as the standard and giving the diagnosis remarks respectively. And then performed the statistical analysis. Results:In the group of the lesion's diameter more than 2cm, The diagnostic accuracy of 1-1.25mm image is 87.7%, The diagnostic accuracy of enhanced images is 86.9%. Comparing 1-1.25mm images and enhanced images, the contribution of diagnosis is no difference (p=0.438);In the group of the lesion's diameter less than or equal to 2cm,the diagnostic accuracy of 1-1.25mm image is 87.2%, the diagnostic accuracy of enhanced images is 89.1%. Comparing 1-1.25mm images and enhanced images, the contribution of diagnosis is no difference (p=0.336).Conclusion:1-1.25mm thin-section images and enhanced images have no difference for the diagnosis of solitary pulmonary nodules;contrast-enhanced CT images do not improve obviously the diagnostic efficacy.
