ObjectiveThrough the design and development of the clinical pathways studies on the diagnosis and treatment of cervical vertigo, to reaserch and summary the clinical pathways on the cervical vertigo patients and to observed the cure rate, the hospitalized days, the hospitalization expensive, the referral ratio, patient's satisfaction. In order to explore the clinical significance of clinical pathways of cervical vertigo.MethodsThere are 98 cases cervical vertigo patients (male 37 cases, female 61 cases, aged 24-78 years, average 52.29±11.99 years, duration 1 day-29 years)。They were randomly divided into two groups of 49 cases. The pathways group were treated according to the clinical pathways, but the control group were treated according to the treatment of past conventional one. through the statistic analysis(t-test and x2-test). And then observed the situation of vertigo improving, the cure rate, the hospitalized days, the hospitalization expensive, the referral ratio, patient's satisfaction.Results1. The comparision of age,the severity of the vertigo symptoms (cervical vertigo symptoms and functional assessment scales, and DHI) were no statistical significance when this two groups at admission (P> 0.05); but the comparision of the severity of the vertigo symptoms (cervical vertigo symptoms and functional assessment scales, and DHI) was statistical significance when this two groups hospital discharge(P<0.05);2. The comparision of therapy efficacy, the cure rate was statistical significance (P<0.05), the clinical pathway group were better than the control group;3. The comparision of the hospitalized days was statistical significance (P<0.05), the clinical pathway group were shorter than the control group;4. The comparision of hospitalization expensive was statistical significance (P<0.05), the hospitalization expensive of clinical pathway group was less than the control group, but daily cost comparison was no statistically significant (P> 0.05);5. The comparision of the patient's satisfaction was no statistical significance (P>0.05).ConclusionsThrough the development and used of the clinical pathways in clinical study, we found that: Two group patients can significantly alleviate the vertigo symptoms, can improve their quality of life and ability of work, also the clinical pathway group were improved better than the control group. the hospitalization expensive of clinical pathway group was less than the control group, but daily cost comparison was no statistical significant. At the same time, the hospitalized days, the cure rate, treatment efficiency and referral ratio is superior than those in the control group; Generally speaking, the application of clinical pathways can improve the cure rate of patients, shorten hospital stay, reduce hospital costs, and improve medical service quality.
