Objective:To observe the influence of lower airway bacterial colonization and Interleukin-8 (IL-8) and quality of life of on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in stable phase by Qiangji Jianli Oral Liquid.Method:60 patients conforming to the research conditions were randomly assigned to the treating group or to the control group. The treating group was treated with QJOL combined with slow-release aminophylline, and the control group was treated only with slow-release aminophylline. The time of treatment was three months, in which to observe the changes of the pulmonary function, lower airway bacterial Colonization(LABC), the levels of IL-8 and the quality of Life before and after the treatment.Result:1. Pulmonary function test:Post-treatment, the index of FEV1, FVC, FEV1% and FEV1/FVC in both group had no significant imparison with those prior treatment(P>0.05). The melioration of pulmonary function had no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). It showed the management of neither the treating or the control group could improve pulmonary function.2. Lower airway bacterial colonization:Flowing the same course of treatment, the positive rate of LABC descended significantly in the treating groups (P<0.05), but it had no significant change in the control group (P>0.05);They had significant difference between the two grous (P<0.05). It showed the management of the treating group could lighten the load of LABC. 3.IL-8:Comparing Post-treament with prior treatment, the levels of IL-8 descended significantly in two groups (P<0.05), and more lower in the treating group (P<0.05)4. Quality of life:Comparing Post-treament with prior treatment, the quality of life-the total total score of SGRQ, the symptoms section score, the activity section score, and the impacts section score improved significantly in the treating group (P<0.05),but it had no improvement in the controlled group(P>0.05). The total total score of SGRQ, the symptoms section score, the activity section score, and the impacts section score had been descended significantly in the treating group with signifieantly differences after 3 months with the controlled group (P<0.05), which shows that the effect of the treating group on improving the quality of life is more significant than the controlled group. Conclusion:The result indicate that the treatment of QJOL combined with slow-release aminophylline can significantly lighten the load of LABC, reduce the level of IL-8 obviously and reduce airway inflammation. Meanwhile, QJOL can improve the quality of life. But there is no significant improvement of pulmonaty function in the two groups.
