Objective:To study erythrocyte oxidative stress status and its association with congenital heart disease in children and explore their clinical significance. Methods:A total of 31 cases were enrolled in experimental group(All of children with congenital heart disease were diagnosed by echocardiography),In accordance with infection and heart failure of congenital heart disease,sub-group of infection and heart failure (12 cases),non-heart failure group (19 cases); After they were divided into subgroups accorded to characteristics of anatomical, included 8cases of ASD,12 cases of VSD,5cases of PDA,6 cases of PFOand 20 healthy subjects as control group, age match from 1 month to 3 years old. The contents of SOD, MDA in erythrocyte were determined by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), ESR were measured by Westergen, while PaO2, PaCO2 measured by Blood Gas Analyzer(GEM Premier 3000)Results:(1)The MDA of erythrocyte in congenital heart disease was significantly higher than the control group. By contrast SOD content was significantly lower (p<0.05);The SOD, MDA levels of congenital heart disease children with heart failure were significant difference (p<0.01) compared to the control group. (2)Anatomical classification of congenital heart disease:Indicator of SOD in groups: SOD level was highest in PFO group, VSD groups was significantly lower. PFO group compare to ASD, VSD groups, there were significant difference (P<0.05); Indicator of MDA in groups:MDA level was highest in VSD group, while PFO, ASD and PDA group decreased, the PDA groups was the lowest, and compared to the PFO, ASD, PDA groups were significant difference (P<0.01). (3) Correlation analysis: There were negative correlation between the ESR, MDA level and the SOD level in children with congenital heart disease(r=-0.191;r=-0.312,P<0.05); However, the correlation of PaO2 level was positive (r=0.216, P<0.05).Conclusions:There is obviously oxidative stress in children with congenital heart disease (CHD), the SOD, MDA contents in erythrocyte can reflect the severity of disease.
