[Objectives]1.To analyze the therapeutic response of greenlight photoselective vaporization of the prostate(PVP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) in aged patients.2.To evaluate the efficacy of greenlight photoselective vaporization of the prostate(PVP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) in aged patients.[Methods]A total of 36 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients aging from 76~92 were with medical complications.Operations were taken after their complications were under controlled. We used American greenlight photoselective vaporization laser system with output power of 80 watt. Normal saline was used as rinse solution.[Results]1.The operative time was 49.9±21.2. Occasional venous hemorrhage occurred during operation but no arterial hemorrhage was observed.2.By 3 month follow-up, the Qmax increased significantly from(7.7±2.2)ml/s preoperatively to (17.2±4.8)ml/s postoperatively. International prostate symptom score decreased from (26.6±3.0) points preoperatively to (7.1±2.8) points. QOL score decreased from (5±0.6)point to (1.5±0.4)point.3.No dead was happened. Catheter was removed varied between 3-5d after operation.[Conclusions] Photoselective vaporization of prostate (PVP) is a safe and effective procedure for aged and high-risk patients with Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
