ObjectiveThis study aims to analyze current educational situations, management standards and existing problems of ASEAN international medical students in Guangxi. So that we could provide reliable ground for the government about setting education policies for ASEAN medical students, and provide valuable reference for higher academy institude in Guangxi about developing ASEAN educational market and progressing internationalization of medical education.MethodsThrough literature analysis method, I collected historic documents about international education development in Guangxi and related law and regulation articles, and interviewed international education staffs, ASEAN medical students,and their instructors about current problems and suggestions.Result1 Questionaire Summary1.1 From 2004 to 2009, international medical students in Guangxi has an anual increasing rate of 23.4%. And Guangxi Medical University(GMU) took up above 60% of those students. Their academy programs mainly consist of bachelor degree program(above 90%),and some master degree programs, and no non-degree professional trainnings. Their pursue mainly Clinical Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine profession, and no Preventive Medicine students.1.2 In 2009, There're 541 ASEAN medical students in Guangxi, which took up around 71.4% among foreign students in Guangxi.Among those ASEAN students, 60.3% of them are male students, 72.5% are lest than 20, 72.8% are from vietnam, 90.4% are study bachelor degree program, 87.3% are clinical medicine students.1.3 Feature in rapid development, safe and stable socio-economic status, and unique geographic advantage, Guangxi hold a reasonable atraction to ASEAN students. According to their opinions , the "level of English instruction" (37.2%) , "Clinical Education" (49.5%), "Scholarship Set" (33.2%), other three were not more than 50% satisfaction; in the study costs, medical per capita of ASEAN students studying abroad costs 52 440 ~ 83,490 yuan .1.4 According to English-medium teachers opinions,47.3% of them are willing to teach foreign students, but 35.1% are satisfied with this job, and only 31.7% are qualified; 36.5% draw little knowledge outside the instructor to make up teaching materials; only 20% are satisfied with "learning attitude"," learning Style" of foreign students. More than 50% agree that "language barriers" (76.4%), "Clinical teaching quality difficult to guarantee "(55.4%) were the main factors influencing teaching effectiveness, only 19.6% think that college have teaching quality supervision role that " the English-medium teaching Personnel measures less intensity small " 50%.2 InterviewsFrom international education interviews, 88 medical international students of ASEAN nations (453 recommendations), 56 English-medium teachers (199 recommendations) and 21 international education management (114 recommendations ) , total of 766 recommendations, which may provide an important reference for the development of international education strategies. Conclusion1. Guangxi Medical education for international students has grown rapidly, and recruits are mainly from ASEAN countries. But there are problems such as uneven distribution of source countries, to study the low academic level, studying a single professional. Association of ASEAN students on school conditions in Guangxi, the quality of education, culture, adaptability evaluation of high, but also that of Guangxi Medical education faces language barriers, faculty, outstanding clinical teaching quality issues. Summarized the proposed combination of interviews, Guangxi international medical education still need promotion.2 With SWOT method, questionnaire and interview results, provide strategy of SO,WO,ST,WT of Guangxi international medical education. To guarantee the implementation of the strategy from the government and colleges, and puts forward countermeasures and Suggestions in two aspects.2.1 For government's sake, they have to take measures as follows:, changing functions, strengthening macro management, expand the college autonomy, Perfect education policy and law in, Set up quality guarantee and certification system.Break the medical service trade barriers, Invest to improve managerial condition, provides scholarships, etc.2.2 For college's sake, they have to take measures as follows: idea goes first; professional and curriculum characteristics, study cost advantage; continue building international teaching staff, teaching materials and arrangements , clinical teaching, security and authentication system; to strengthen the ASEAN-oriented health and medical education; sound people-oriented students management and service system; improve student quality; strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi and ASEAN in medical education; building high international education platform.
