Objective:To compare anterior and posterior transient ischemic attack (TIA) in risk factors and short-term prognosis. Evaluate the accuracy of ABCD2 score in predicting ischemic stroke after TIA.Methods:We retrospectively studied 80 patients with anterior or posterior transient ischemic attack, to compare the risk factors and 7day risk of stroke after TIA. According to ABCD2 score patients were divided into a low risk group and moderate-high risk group, ischemic stroke rate were compared in each group within 7days.Results:Hypertension is the most common risk factor in patients with TIA. The hypertension rate in anterior TIA was 64.3%, in posterior was 60.5%. Diabetes rate in posterior TIA (21.1%) was significantly higher than anterior (4.8%), P=0.0256. The 7 day stroke rate was 11.9%in patients with anterior TIA,5.3%in posterior TIA patients, and there was no significant difference between the two groups. The ABCD2 score in anterior TIA patients (3.76±1.39) was significant higher than posterior TIA patients (2.89±1.02), P=0.0026. In anterior TIA patients, the stroke rate in moderate-high risk group was significant higher than low risk group. However, in posterior TIA patients, there was no significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion:Hypertension is the most common risk factor in patients with TIA. Diabetes might have more serious effect on posterior TIA patients. ABCD2 score can predict the risk of stroke in anterior TIA patients, but the score can't predict well in posterior TIA patients.
