ObjectiveTo investigate the feasibility of one-stage open bone grafting in the treatment of infected bone defect of the tibia, a retrospective study about one-stage open bone grafting compared with cancellous bone grafting after infection controled, improve the curative effect.MethodsThe data of twenty-four patients with infected bone defect of the tibia caused by open fracture were retrospectively analyzed, The range of bone defect was 2 to 4.5 cm(average2.9cm). The treatment procedure included dressing change, debridement and external fixation. After the debridement, the one stage open bone grafting was performed with autogenous bone chips, which was less than 5 mm in diameter. The dressing was changed regularly after operation; 20 cases of patients with infected bone defect of the tibia, The treatment procedure included controling infection, eliminate wound infection, the bone grafting was performed 3-6months later after The infection was controlledResultAfter 8-18 months of follow-up, and regular x-rays,23 cases in 24 patients who are treated with one-stage open bone grafting, the bone defects are unioned after bone grafting, average bone healing time is 6.9(5-11months) months,1 case have malunion,1 case have long-term antrum formed, and 20 patients who are treated with traditional staging surgery bone are all Fracture healing, the time of Fracture healing is 10 (5-14)months, but two patients appear shortening of the limb, two patients appear ankle dysfunction.ConclusionsThe one-stage open bone grafting is optional therapy for infected bone defect of the tibia.
