Ilex latifoloside Thunb (aquifoliaceae), one of the species in the Ilex genus, is an evergreen plant which distributes widely in southern region of china such as Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan and Fujian province. The leaf of this plant is a local herb tea product, known as "Ku-Ding-Cha". It is also used as a diuretic, remedy for sore throats, weight loss and for a relief of hypertension. Modern pharmacology research showed that the leaves of Ilex latifoloside had many bioactivities, such as decreasing blood sugar and blood fat, reducing hypertension, anti-bacterium, diminishing inflammation and antioxidative activities.In order to search bioactive compounds, we had systematically investigated the chemical constituents of the water extract of Ilex latifoloside.20 compounds had been isolated from this plant. They were identified on the basis of spectral analysis and physico-chemical characters.
