Objective:Breast milk is conducive to the healthy growth of babies, and an important measure to ensure to improve the population quality, which is recognized as the most appropriate baby food in the world. Breastfeeding is infant feeding patterns, which the World Health Organization (WHO) promotes to the whole world; its advantages have been recognized around the world. It is the most perfect nutrition and immune function of antibodies that the breast milk provide to the babies; breastfeeding reduces pollution, with cost saving and no packaging; breast-fed infants suffer less frequently from serious infectious diseases and allergic diseases, or the symptoms are lighter; during the course of breast-feeding, mothers also benefit a lot from it. But breast-feeding, the piece of "gold" is actually lost, as the arrival of baby boom of after 80. The successful breast-feeding must have sufficient milk. The psychological status of mothers in breast-feeding period plays a direct impact on milk production and discharge. Lactating women encounter various difficulties that cause psychological stress and inhibit milk secretions; it leads to a decline in breastfeeding rates. This study was designed to survey the status of maternal breast-feeding through questionnaire, and to understand the social psychological factors affecting breast-feeding. The purpose of this study is to give maternal psychological guidance, support and provide a theoretical basis, thereby enhancing the rate of breastfeeding.Methods:Picking from the full-term birth mothers at the maternity wards of the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University during 3.2009 and 10.2009, and its post-partum follow-up, using self-designed questionnaire to collect relevant information with the method of surveying on maternal women, using the SPSS 13.0 and SAS8.0 software and statistical methods to analyze the data.Results:1. Exclusive breastfeeding rate of 240 lying-in women was 50.42%; part of the breastfeeding rate was 43.33%; bottle-feeding rate was 6.25%;2. The analysis of single factor showed that:pure breastfeeding rate is relation to the occupation, consciously volume of breast milk, the views that whether the mode of delivery would affect the breastfeeding, breast milk is a comprehensive nutrition, breastfeeding troubles the mothers, affects sleeping, changes the shape of the mothers, the psychological preparative of the change of lying-in women's role, the attitude of the family, particularly the husband to breastfeeding, depression or anxiety, breastfeeding confidence and other social psychological factors;3. Multi-factor analysis showed that:the confidence of breastfeeding has the most impact on whether to adopt the breastfeeding or not, followed by the amount of breast milk for consciously, while the view that whether the breast-feeding is to change the shape of the mothers has a smaller impact on it.Conclusion:The survey results showed that the pure breastfeeding rate of 240 cases was 50.42%, which was low compared with the required target in the "China Children's Development Program (2001-2010)". Pure breastfeeding rate is relation to the occupation, consciously volume of breast milk, the views that whether the mode of delivery would affect the breastfeeding, breast milk is a comprehensive nutrition, breastfeeding troubles the mothers, affects sleeping, changes the shape of the mothers, the psychological preparative of the change of lying-in women's role, the attitude of the family, particularly the husband to breastfeeding, depression or anxiety, breastfeeding confidence and other social psychological factors. The confidence of breastfeeding has the most impact on whether to adopt the breastfeeding or not, followed by the amount of breast milk for consciously, while the view that whether the breast-feeding is to change the shape of the mothers has a smaller impact on it. We can further improve the rate of pure breastfeeding through active and effective health education, the correct and timely psychological intervention, norms of social communication and other ways.
