Oenanthe Javanica (OJ), is a perennial herb Oenanthe L. According to traditional documents, OJ is effective in detoxification and diuresis. It is mainly used in the treatment of hepatitis, cardiovascular disease, antianaphylaxis, and diabetes. Oenanthe Javanica Total Phenolic Acid (OJTPA) is the original material extracted from OJ entire plants. Our aim is to develop a new drug OJTPA capsule. We use orthogonal experiment to optimize the better processing of abstraction and depuration. The content of total phenolic acid in OJTPA capsule is evaluated to 52.3%, which meets the requirements of the National V new drug standard. The methods used in the determination of total phenolic acid in OJTPA capsule by Folin agent, chlorogenic acid in OJTPA capsule by HPLC as well as TLC analysis were esTablelished. The quality control standard of OJTPA capsule was drawn up. We observed the protective effect of three dosage group of Chlorogenic Acid (CA) and OJTPA on mice models of CC14 acute liver injury and analyzed the correlativity of these two medicines. The results show that both high and middle group of CA are significantly effective at liver protection, especially the high group of CA which is even more effective than that of the OJTPA group. Moreover, the therapeutic effect of CA declined with the decrease in the dosage of CA, which is a sign that CA is effective in liver protect and is one of the effective compounds of OJTPA.
