Objective:To explore the characteristics of blood lipid metabolism in type 2 diabetics, and the relationship between lipid metabolism and apolipoprotein A5.Methods: There were a total of 133 participants in our study, including 94 with type 2 diabetes and 39 with non-diabetics. Serum apolipoprotein A5 was measured with double antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Blood lipid and fasting insulin were also measured at the same time. Statistics methods were used to explore the relationship of apolipoprotein A5 with blood lipid and other variables. Results: Serum triglycerides levels in type 2 diabetes (1.75±0.93)were higher than that in non-diabetics(1.33±0.75), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Serum apolipoprotein A5 levels in type 2 diabetes(122.42±57.94) were lower than that in non-diabetics(143.99±69.95), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). In non-diabetics,Serum apolipoprotein A5 had no relationship with triglycerides (P>0.05),In patients with type 2 diabetes, Serum apolipoprotein A5 had no relationship with triglycerides (P>0.05), but had a statistically significant negative relationship with waist circumference (r=-0.232,P<0.05). In patients with type 2 diabetes, serum triglycerides had a statistically significant positive relationship with waist circumference(r=0.235,P<0.05),waist hip ratio(r=0.303,P<0.01) and the fatty liver(r=0.373,P<0.01).Conclusion: The abnormal lipid metabolism was characterized with elevated triglycerides and reduced apolipoprotein A5 in patients with type 2 diabetes. No association was found between serum apolipoprotein A5 and triglycerides , not rule out the national and the difference of chronic inflammation on the impact of lipid metabolism. Waist circumference was an important factor of affecting apolipoprotein A5 in type 2 diabetes. And waist hip ratio was the important factor of resulting in the elevation of triglycerides in type 2 diabetes.
