| BackgroundWith the improvement of population ageing and life expectancy, morbidity and mortality of coronary heart disease is gradually raising trend. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is one of the most important risk factor for coronary heart disease. Diabetes mellitus in patients with coronary heart disease risk is higher than the normal population of about 2~4 times, and case-fatality rate is significantly higher than non-diabetic patients. Coronary angiography and foreign autopsy studies have confirmed that the coronary artery lesion in patients with type 2 diabetes than non-diabetic patients with more serious or more diffuse.1999 United States Heart Association (AHA) put forward the "diabetic cardiovascular disease", and with the United States composed of Diabetes Association cardiovascular diseases prevention and control of Union.2001 United States Committee of experts on cholesterol education program (NCEP) adult treatment guidelines issued byⅢ(ATPⅢ) will also be raised to coronary artery disease of diabetes CHD risk equivalents of heights. Held in 2004 of the European society of Cardiology (ESC) and European society of DM (EASD) annual meeting more cardiovascular complications of DM, and CHD joint control to metabolic syndrome.ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation of diabetes duration and coronary arterial pathological changes by coronary angiography in coronary heart disease patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods204patients in coronary heart disease admitted into the hospital were divided into 4 groups:no diabetes (n=82), the duration of type 2 diabetes≤5 years (n =39),>5~10years (n=40) and> 10~≤20 years (n=43). The interventional therapy history and type 1 diabetes mellitus were excluded. The pathological changes of coronary artery eva]uated by coronary angiography and the results among different groups were analyzed with the diabetes duration.ResultsThere were no significant differences in the pathological changes of coronary artery between the group of no diabetes and the groups of≤5years duration and >5~≤10years duration. However, the group of>10~≤20 years duration showed more serious pathological changes of coronary artery than other groups including the multi-branch lesion, diffuse lesion and obstruct lesion (P<0.01).ConclusionFollowing the process of the diabetes, the coronary lesions in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus tend to be more widespread and severe. |
