Plumbaginaceae, Limonium Mill is halophytes, widely distributed in Northeast, Northern China, Shanxi, Gansu, Ningxia province and subei, including a total of 17 species. Limonium sinense and L imonium bicolor are the most common species of china. As traditional Chinese Medicine, have effectiveness of hemostatic and henatinic effects, eliminating stasist blood circulation, regulating menstruation, nourishing spleen, invigorating stomach, can been used for the treatment of cervical cancer and dysfunctional uterine bleeding embolism. Modern research shows that Limonium Mill mainly contain constituents such as amino acids, inorganic elemens, sterides, flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, polysaccharide, volatile oil, ect. And showed several pharmacological activities, including anti-bacterial anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, anti-aging, protect the liver, anticancer.Biological secondary metabolites of special environment drow special attention of Natural medicines chemists. Limonium bicolor is one of the advantages species of salt-tolerant plant in Yellow River Delta wetland. However, up to now, the study on constituents and biological activities have reported rarely. To study the bioactive constituents, elucidate the relation of the second metabolites of salt tolerant plants and salt emviorment, we systematically investigated the constituents of L imonium bicolor. By chromatographic methods, including thin-layer chromatography, column chromatography on silica gel, SephadexLH-20, and semi-HPLC,23 compounds were isolated from the petroleum ether-ester acetate portion of the methanol extract of the plant. were determined asβ-sitosterol (1), stigmastane-3,6-dione (2), stigmast-4-ene-3,6-dione (3),6β-Hydroxy-stigmast-4-en-3one (4), Ergosta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraene-3-one (5), ergosta-5-ene-3β-ol (6), ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3β-ol (7),5a,8a-epidioxy-(22E,24R)-ergosta-6,22-dien-3β-ol (8),5,8-Epidioxy-5a,8a-ergosta-6,9, 22E-tien-3β-ol (9), Phytol (10), (-)-lirioresinol-C (11), Medioresinol (12), pinoresinol (13),hexadecanoic acid (14), linoleic acid (15),1-Monolinolein (16), monolinolenoyl- glycerol (17), Gallic acid (18), methyl gallate (19),3,5-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-benzoic acid (20),3-O-methylgallic acid (21), myricitrin (22), Bis(2-methylpropyl) ester (23). Respectively, among them,2,3,5~9,11~13,16,17,20,21 were obtained from Limonium bicolor for the first time.HPLC-fingerprint of Limonium bicolor, containing 17 mutual peaks, was established according to the analysis of 11 samples under the optimum chromagraphic conditions, and the system suitability tests was in compliance with the fingerprint techniqe specifications. the fingerprint could be used as identification of Limonium bicolor. Gallic acid and myricitrin which was isolated from Limonium bicolor as index components, and the content determination method of Gallic acid and myricitrin in Limonium bicolor was developed by RP-HPLC. The results showed a great difference in drugs. Content of the two marker components, there is an increasing trend with increasing salinity, and is higher in (PH=7.5-8).
