Objective:Based on the etiology and pathogenesis of Blepharitis-related dry eye, the treatment of Chinese herbs combining Meibomian gland massage and topical apply Compound tobramycin eye ointment were taken to treat Blepharitis-related dry eye, which could provide a novel clue and therapeutic method.Method:The treatment of Chinese herbs along with Meibomian gland massage and topical apply Compound tobramycin eye ointment was applied to the Experimental Group (EG) of 30 cases (60 eyes), while Meibomian gland massage and topical apply Compound tobramycin eye ointment was applied to the Control Group (CG) of 30 cases (60 eyes). A comparison of symptom grading evaluation before-and-after-treatment were conducted while meibomian gland secretions,Schirmer I Test, tear film break-up time (BUT) and fluorescent staining (FL).Result:The effective rate of the EG is 85%,with evident improvement in the observed targets except Schirmer I Test after treatment (P<0.01) and better than that of the CG (P<0.01). Majority of the patients in the EG claimed an alleviation of subjective symptoms.Conclusion:The combination of Chinese herbs, Meibomian gland massage and topical apply Compound tobramycin eye ointment demonstrates an evident effect on Blepharitis-related dry eye and plays a certain role in improving the related targets except Schirmer I Test and subjective symptoms of the patients. It has a relatively ideal effect compared to the simple treatment of Meibomian gland massage and topical apply Compound tobramycin eye ointment.
