ObjectiveTo investigate the expression of Fascin and MVD in patients with invasive and non-invasivepituitary adenomas,and to evaluate the relationship between the expression of Fascin,CD34 andthe invasion of pituitary adenomas,and to analyze the correlation between Fascin and MVD ininvasive pituitary adenomas.Methods1 45 surgically resected pituitary adenoma samples,including 24 invasive pituitary adenomasand 21 non-invasive pituitary adenomas.All of the tissues were fixed in 10% neutral formalinand embedded in paraffin.2 Envision immunostaining technique was used to detect Fascin and MVD in all of the tissues.3 Analyze the differences of the expression of Fascin and CD34 between the invasive andnon-invasive pituitary adenomas,and the correlation between Fascin and MVD in invasivepituitary adenomas by the statistieal methodResults1 The positive expression rate of Fascin in invasive pituitary adenomas and non-invasivepituitary adenomas is 75.0%,42.9% respectively. There is significant difference between2groups(χ2=4.821P=0.028).2 There is significant difference of mean value of MVD between invasive pituitary adenomasgroup(42.27±8.04)and non-invasive adenomas group(30.31±6.16)( t=5.539,p=0.000).3 There is positive correlation between Fascin expression and MVD in invasive pituitaryadenomas group(r=0.713,p=0.000).Conclusions1 Compared with the non-invasive pituitary adenomas group, Fascin is high expressed ininvasive pituitary adenomas group,which suggests the invasion of pituitary adenomas iscorrelated with the expression level of Fascin.2 Compared with the non-invasive pituitary adenomas group,MVD is higher in invasivepituitary adenomas group,which suggests the invasion of pituitary adenomas is correlatedwith the angiogenesis. 3 There is positive correlation between Fascin expression and MVD,which suggest Fascin canfacilitate pituitary adenomas growth.and invasion by accelerating angiogenesis.
