Objectives:Research epilepsy etiology in childhood, and discuss the relationship between febrile seizure history and epileptic etiology. Analyze the clinical characteristics of epileptic patients with febrile seizure and risk factors of epilepsy after febrile seizure. Figure out the treatment condition of epileptic patients with febrile seizure.Method:Collect clinical records that epileptic patients of PLA general hospital during October 2002 to July 2010. Select the patients of epilepsy onset in childhood. Find out the reasons of epilepsy, and figure out the relationship between febrile seizure and epileptic. Analyze the clinical characteristics of epileptic patients with febrile seizure and risk factors of epilepsy after febrile seizure with multiple linear regression. Statistics the medicine condition of patients with febrile seizure history. Results:There were 1126 cases of secondary epilepsy patients under age of 18 from the total cases 4595. The main causes of epilepsy were febrile seizure, perinatal abnormalities, head trauma, intracranial lesions and infection, etc. Febrile seizure is the most important reason of epilepsy and account for 28.4 percent of all the secondary epilepsy. Throughχ~2 inspection, the abnormal rates of imaging test in febrile seizure group were higher than the rate of afebrile seizure group. 59.1% of the patients with febrile seizure were partial seizures, 40.9% were generalized seizure. 22.6% developed to epilepsy after febrile seizure in one year, and after that 17.5 persons developed to epilepsy every year. The persons who developed to epilepsy after febrile seizure in 15 years decreased. The less febrile seizure happened, the longer febrile seizure developed to epilepsy. The closer relationship between patients and their relatives with febrile seizure history and epilepsy, the slower febrile seizure developed epilepsy. Through multiple linear regression, the age of febrile seizure and family history could influence the process from febrile seizure to epilepsy. The rate of AEDs administration was 65.8%. 143 cases used one kind of drugs, and 84 cases used more than one kind of drugs. 17.6% were powerfully effective, 50.7% were effective, 31.7% were invalid.Conclusions:1. The main causes of secondary epilepsy in childhood were febrile seizure, perinatal abnormalities, head trauma. Febrile seizure was the first cause of secondary epilepsy and more likely to cause CNS damage. The attack type was mainly partial seizure, especially was complicated partial seizure.2. One percent of five developed to epilepsy after febrile seizure in one year, and the persons who developed to epilepsy after febrile seizure in 15 years decreased.3. The age of febrile seizure and family history could influence the process from febrile seizure to epilepsy. The traditional antiepileptic drugs were used widely, and more people used one drug. The treatment efficiency of epilepsy was high.
