Objective To investigate whether cerulenin could induce apoptosis and suppress prolliferation to human prostate cancer cell. Methods methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT),flow cytometry and western blot ass were performed to indentify the inhibitory effect on cell proliferation and the induction apoptosis in human prostate cancer cell (LNCaP).Results Cerulenin was able to induce LNCaP cell death via apoptosis.Cerulenin a inhibited the proliferation of LNCaP in vitro and was dose-dependent.The inhibitory effec cerulenin on proliferation of LNCaP cell was associated with cell cycle arrest from G1 t(?) phase transition and with induction of apoptosis., accompanied by decreased expression fatty acid synthase protein. Conclusion The fatty acid synthase inhibitor, cerulenin, enables to induce cell apopt(?) and to suppress the growth of human prostate cancer cells by inhibition of the synthesi(?) fatty acids endogenously in the cancer cells.
