Purpose:To investigate the therapective effect of catgut embedding in points combined with auricular point pressing on Women's climacteric syndrome, compared with single catgut embedding in points treatment.Methods:62 cases of climacteric syndrome women aged from 41 to 60 were selected on certain inclusive criteria, and were randomly assigned to treatment group (n=31)and control group(n=31).one month made up an observing therapeutic course, the improved method of Kupperman grade point was adopted to estimate Symptoms and curative effect of both groups before and after treatment respectively. Simultaneously, investigated the adverse reaction in recentness.Results:(1) There was no significant difference between treatment group and control group in the common conditions(P>0.05),such as age, culture level of structure, physical state, course of disease, etc.(2) The Menopausal age of both groups was concentrated from 46 to 55, and the culture level of structure had no dependence on the menopause.(3) There was no significant difference between treatment group and control group in the Kupperman grades (KI index) before the treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the Kupperman grades of formication of both groups and painful sex of control group, decreased certainly, but there was no significant difference between them. The others symptoms of both groups were improved greatly and Kupperman grades decreased significantly. There was a statistic significant difference of the Kupperman grades (KI index) between two groups before and after treatment. Among them, the effect of the treatment group on the hectic fever, sweating, paraesthesia, great excitability of the patients was much better than that of the control group (P<0.05).(4) There was a statistic significant difference between treatment group and control group in their efficacy after treatment(P<0.05).The shorter the course of the disease and the milder the symptoms were, the better the curative effect was.(5) The investigation of adverse reaction in recentness:the total occurrence rate of adverse reaction in the treatment group was 9.68%,higher than control group's 3.23%, but there was no difference between two groups (P>0.05). It demonstrates that the cases occurrence rate of adverse reactions in catgut embedding in points therapy was low, and the safety of catgut embedding in points is good.(6) The most 7 frequent response auricular points of treatment group were as follows:Kidney(100%), Sub-cortex(80.65%), Shenmen(77.42%), Uterus(67.74%), Liver(58.06%),Spleen(54.84%), and Heart(51.61%).Conclusion:(1) Catgut embedding in points combined with auricular point pressing has an obvious effect on the treatment of climacteric syndrome, which could improve various kinds of clinical symptoms of the climacteric syndrome notably, except the formication.(2) The total effective rate of the group of catgut embedding in points combined with auricular point pressing was 96.77%, higher than control group's 90.32%.There was a statistic significant difference between two groups'effect. It demonstrates that composite treatment is in evidence superior to the simple therapy of catgut embedding.
