ObjectiveThe topics to be adopted enrich the kidney and nourish the liver of traditional Chinese medicine on the elderly isolated systolic hypertension patients with yin-deficiency of both liver and kidney, to observe the depressurization effects and improving traditional Chinese medicine symptoms, quality of life in patients, and provide clinical evidence for elderly isolated systolic hypertension treatment with combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment. Using Short Form-36 to evaluate the clinic results, give a new idea and method on evaluating the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine.Methods60 cases have been confirmed to choose the elderly isolated systolic hypertension patients with yin-deficiency of both liver and kidney were observed in clinical trial for 8 weeks. And randomly divided into two groups: 30 cases (treatment group) in the original on the basis of combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment, the addition of lycium-rehmannia pill.30 cases (control group) continued to western medicine treatment alone. Changes of clinic blood pressure,24hABPM, traditional Chinese medicine symptoms and quality of life in patients before and after treatment were observed. After that, all the data would be input into computer and use the statistical software SPSS13.0 perform statistical analysis.Results1. Conventional blood pressure monitoring:The systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure decreased in two groups after 8 weeks of treatment (P<0.05). There was statistic significant difference on the systolic blood pressure between the treatment group and control group, but there was no statistic significant difference on the systolic blood pressure between the treatment group and control group (P>0.05).2. Depressurization effects:The treatment group had a total effective rate of 90.00%, controlled group had a total effective rate of 83.33%. The results of the two group had no statistic significant difference (P>0.05).3. Symptoms improvement: After the treatment, the two groups can effectively improve the patients'clinical symptoms. The effective rate of two groups in traditional Chinese medicine symptoms were 90.00% and 60.00% respectively and showing statistical significant difference (P<0.05), that the enrich the kidney and nourish the liver of traditional Chinese medicine have improved significantly in patients with symptoms of the role.4. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring:24hSBP,dSBP,nSBP and 24hDBP,dDBP decreased in two groups after 8 weeks of treatment (P<0.05). There was statistic significant difference on 24hSBP,dSBP between the treatment group and control group(P<0.05), but there was no statistic significant difference on 24hDBP,dDBP between two group (P>0.05). There was no statistic significant difference at nDBP after 8 weeks and between two groups (P>0.05).5. Quality of life:After 8 weeks treatment, two group had effect at SF-36 scores, including physical functioning (PF),role-physical (RP),bodily pain (BP),general health (GH),vitality (VT),social functioning (SF),role-emotion (RE),mental health (MH). Among them, role-physical (RP),bodily pain (BP),general health (GH),vitality (VT),role-emotion (RE) increased in two groups after 8 weeks of treatment (P<0.05). The treatment group showed better sores of role-physical (RP),bodily pain (BP),general health (GH),vitality (VT),role-emotion (RE), there was statistic significant difference between two groups (P<0.05). There was no statistic significant difference at physical functioning (PF),social functioning (SF),mental health (MH)after 8 weeks and between two groups (P>0.05).ConclusionThis study shows that, compared with western medicine treatment alone, combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment can improve the effect of depressurization. In addition, it also can improve patients' clinical symptoms and the quality of life. Therefore, enrich the kidney and nourish the liver of traditional Chinese medicine treatment for the elderly isolated systolic hypertension patients with yin-deficiency of both Liver and s a new and effective treatment methods.
