The Study Of Acupoints' Resistance Among Two Groups Using Meridian Detector

BackgroundDigital Meridian System (short as DMS) was invented by Best Health Company in 2002. It is a device whose patent Number is ZL02259744.1, which is used to evaluate the meridian conditions by detecting acupoints'resistance. The DMS includes voltage releaser, voltage receiver and line connections which links the voltage releaser and voltage receiver to host. The voltage releaser is a device that is applied attaching to the subject's right palm. The voltage receiver is a machine holding by the tester (see picture One). The DMS was used to test the Yuan point's resistance of twelve bilateral serious human meridians (The Yuan point of large intestine channel of Hand-Yangming was replaced by Taixi Point KI3 and the Yuan point of Bladder channel of Foot-Taiyang was replaced by Sugu Point BL65), then all the resistance value were transformed by the host into a readable index which is called meridian energy index, finally, we used the index to assess people's meridian actual conditions.The DMS has been widely used since its invention and it had a good result when directing the clinical treatment. However, there is no relevant literature studying the resistance difference so far. Therefore, this research was to select peace-constitution group and Yang deficiency constitution group as the testing target, applying DMS to measure these two groups, finally analyzing the difference of resistance between the two groups. This study is going to provide data back-up to the research on objectification of traditional Chinese medicine.ObjectivesThrough observing the Yuan points resistance characteristics of Yang-deficiency constitution people and peace constitution people, initially explore the function of the meridian electrical perceptive measuring method in the field of the constitution identification; through observing meridian electrical sensitivity measuring index to support the research on objectification traditional Chinese medicine.MethodsThe study used a cross sectional survey method, requiring people who met the inclusion criteria to sign the consent letter, personal health information and finish the "Traditional Chinese Medical Constitution Questionnaire 60" According to the result of the questionnaire, this study divided subjects into peace constitution group and Yang deficiency group. Then, the study detected two groups'acupoints'resistance using DMS to analyze the electrical difference of the two groups.Results1,Comparing the peace constitution group and Yang deficiency group, the general meridian energy index, bilateral kidney channel energy index, and bilateral bladder channel energy index were lower in Yang deficiency group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).2,There was significant difference between Yang deficiency group and systematic standard in terms of the general meridian index (P<0.05).3,There was significant difference between Yang meridians and Yin meridians among Yang deficiency patients (P<0.05).4,There was significant difference in right stomach channel, right spleen channel, left pericardium channel and right gall bladder channel energy index between the two groups (P<0.05).5,The two groups'maximum index of lower limbs, general maximum value and median value of lower limbs have statistically significant (P<0.05).6,The two groups'Yang meridian and Yin Meridian have statistically significant (P<0.05) among the index of maximum and median.7,The two groups'Taibai point(SP3) uneven ooccurrence rate has statistically significant (P<0.05).8,The comparisons of two groups in mental status index, thyroid index, and index of abnormal rate of mental state have statistically significant (P<0.05).Take all above results into conclusion, two groups'general meridian energy index, mental status index, thyroid index, median, maximum, and uneven occurrence rate can differentiate the Yang deficiency constitution group from peace constitution group.ConclusionThe Digital Meridian System can differentiate the two constitution groups in electrical angel which indicates the DMS could be a method to aid Traditional Chinese Medical constitution identifications. And it's worthwhile future studying and continuing doing research.
