Objective and SignificanceUlcerative Colitis ("UC") is of a chronic colitis, which has increasingly occurred since last decades in China. The etiology and pathogenesis of UC have not been fully elucidated, and there is no radical treatment for UC. Meanwhile, UC has also been considered as precancerous lesions of colon cancers and classified as one of refractory diseases in modern society by World Health organization. In the past, it was not called UC but called dysentery. There are satisfactory effect and unique experience when using Chinese Traditional Medicine to treat the diseases. The doctors of past dynasties accumulated ample documents and materials in researching prevention and treatment of dysentery. The article had recorded the literature of dysentery from Times of the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476B. C.)and the Warring States (475~221 B. C.) to the Qing Dynasty. We will benefit from the research and then inspire us to find alternative treatment with significant clinical improvement with less adverse effect.MethodsFirst, establish keywords and develop the into index and exclude index and then excluded those which do not conform to the standards from the full-text documents. In addition, extract the relative documents from "Chinese Medicine Great Achievements", "Chinese Medicine continuation" and "Full records of ancient and modern medical books" in San Yuanli Library in Guangzhou University of TCM. Order temporally those documents by etiology, therapeutic principle, prescription, and other therapy, regulation and prognosis.According to the documents will be screening out, etiology, therapeutic principle any prescription medication and other therapies and treatments, regulating and prognosis in accordance with the time sequence of literature information collection each entry "watch", and establish the document information databases. After classifying the documents, statistically analyze the data with the frequency analysis method. Combine the experience of treating dysentery of doctors in different times and analyze and sum up the statistical result with TCM theory.ResultsTo review the systematic literature of dysentery in the Chinese classics, dysentery Chinese ancient database; of dysentery Chinese classics a database for statistical analysis and conclusions of the "Changpi" in "Marketing of Chinese medicine for diarrhea, is much damp heat pathogenesis that hamper and eating disorder, the seven emotions, Cascade down for the first, it should make false charge more astringent, with a temperature and cure, such protection is the man should know prevention.
