Observation On Artemether Against Echinococcus Granulosus Metacestodes

Objective To investigate anti-metacestodes efficacy on Echinococcus multilocularis by using Artemether in vitro and in vivo.Methods In vitro experiment have four groups:Artemether high, low dose group, Albendazole group and control group. EmPSC cultured in the DMEM. The mortality of EmpSC was daily counted until 100% EmPSC death in some group. In vivo five:Artemether high, low dose group,Albendazole group, blank group and control group. The judging criteria included cyst wet weight of AE, spleen, thymus index,and pathological section.Results In vitro difference of EmPSC mortality between the Artemether high, low dose group and control group. On the 9th day, the mortality of EmPSC with the Artemether high does group was 100%. The inhibition rates of cyst wet weight about Artemether high, low dose group, Albendazole group were 66%,65%,75% respectively. cyst wet weight among Artemether high dose group and blank group have difference. The spleen index have difference between control group and therapeutics groups.Conclusion Albendazole and Artemether have effect of anti-EmPSC in vitro, in vivo have the same effect,and show dose-time-dependent.
