Objective:To investigate the candidal infection status in patients with bladder carcinoma, benigh prostatic hyperplasia and normal populations. The correlation between candidal infection of urinary tract and pathogenesy, recurrence and clinical implications of bladder carcinoma was evaluated by comparing the types, quantities, forms and other aspects of infected candida in these three group's urine, and analyse its relationships between pathological grade, clinical stage, initial or recurrence, location of bladder cancer and tumor size, pathological type, the patients'age, gender, lymphonode metastasis.Using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method in order to find the method that fast and effectively detect and diagnose Candida infection of urinary tract. Methods:Urine specimens were collected from 170 bladder carcinoma patients, whose ages are between 35-79 years old. (included 83 cases of male and 87 cases of female,112 patients tumor's size are less than 5cm and 58 patients tumor's size are larger than or equal to 5cm,71 patients are less than 60 years old and 99 patients are greater than or equal to 60 years old,88 patients suffered lymphonode metastasis and 82 patient did not suffered,79 cases of initial bladder caicinoma and 91 cases of recurrent bladder carcinoma,7 cases of squamous cell carcinoma of bladder and 163 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of bladder,90 cases of tumor in triangular area or ureteral orifice nearby and 80 cases of tumor in other site),87 benigh prostatic hyperplasia patients and 80 normal populations. The candida species were cultured, isolated and identified using CHROMagar media.Further identification or confirm was done using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technological method.Using agarose gel electrophoresis and auto image formation system display to analyse consequence. All the datas were analysed by statistics by utilizing SPSS17.0 software. Results:Candida species were observed in 77 cases of 170 bladder carcinoma patients(45.3%) which distribution of candida species were 63 Candida albicans,14 Candida glabrata.in 24 cases of 87 benigh prostatic hyperplasia patients (27.6%) which distribution of candida species were 21 Candida albicans and 3 Candida glabrata and in 1 case of 80 normal populations (1.3%) which distribution of candida species is Candida albicans.Candida albicans is the main infected candida type in bladder cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia patients and normal populations.Statistical analysis showed that the difference of candida infection between patients with bladder carcinoma and benigh prostatic hyperplasia is significant(P<0.05).It is also showed that the candida infection is significantly correlated with the pathological type, tumor lacation (triangular area or ureteral orifice nearby and others) and tumor size (P<0.05).However,it is not with significant difference in patients'age, gender, lymphonode metastasis, pathological grade and clinical stage (P >0.05).The difference of candida infection between patients with bladder carcinoma of initial and recurrent is significant (P<0.05)Conclusion:Candida infection is in a high prevalence in patients with bladder cancer. The Candida infection is correlated with the pathological type, location of bladder cancer and tumor size.Candida infection may be a risk factor in pathogenesy, progression and recurrence of bladder cancer.
