The Variation And The Clinical Significance Of IL-8 And IL-10 In Type 2 Diabetic Nephropathy Patients

Objective:To investigate the level of serum IL-8 and IL-10 in DM patients and different stages of DNMethods:This study included 30 healthy subjects and 70 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in endocrinology department.Diabetic patients were further divided into three subgroups according to their urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER):20 patients with normal UAER(group DM),30 patients with microalbumin (group DN1)and 20 patients with clinical proteinuria(group DN2). IL-8, IL-10, UAER, fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood arua nitrogen (BUN), blood cretonne (Cr), cholesterol, blood pressure were measured and body mass index(BMI) were calculated.The levels of IL-8,IL-10 in different groups are measured by ELISA.Results:1:The serum levels of IL-8 and IL-10 in patients of DM group, DN1 group and DN2 group were significantly higher than those in healthy controls (p<0.01 or p<0.05); 2:Serum levels of IL-8 and IL-10 in DN1 group and DN2 group were higher than those in DM group (all p<0.05); Serum levels of IL-8 and IL-10 had relation with the concentration of Cr and UAER in all diabetic patients, but no relation with the concentration of BUN. The results indicated there was a positive correlation between serum IL-8, IL-10 and DN.Conclusions:1. Serum levels of IL-8 and IL-10 increased in different stages of DN patients and grew with increasing urinary albumin which suggested they might play an important role in the course DN.2. There were positive correlations of serum IL-8, IL-10 with the concentration of Cr and UAER, which seemed to be associated with the severity of the nephropathy.
