Objective To analyze the ratio of NAA/Cr in substantia nigra and globus pallidus with the different Hoehn-Yahr stages and UPDRS score of Parkinson's disease. Methods To review the correlation in the ratio of NAA/Cr,witch in substantia nigra and globus pallidus, with the different Hoehn-Yahr stages and UPDRS score in 30 cases of Parkinson's disease. Results Among the 60 cases of Parkinson's disease, there were 5 early patients, 11 medium-term patients and 14 late-stage patients. Results:There was a significant reduction in ratio of NAA/Cr in the substantia nigra of symptomatic sides of patients between different stages of Parkinson's disease (P<0.01) . There was no significant differenc in the ratio of NAA/Cr between the both sides of the substantia nigra. A negative correlation between the ratio of NAA/Cr in the substantia nigra of symptomatic sides and UPDRS score(r=-0.379,P<0.05)was found. There was no significant differenc in the ratio of NAA/Cr in the globus pallidus of symptomatic sides of patients between different stages of Parkinson's disease. There was a significant reduction in ratio of NAA/Cr between the both sides of the globus pallidus(P<0.01). There were no correlation between the ratio of NAA/Cr in the globus pallidus of symptomatic sides and UPDRS score. Conclusion ~1H-MRS can evaluate the condition of people with Parkinson's Disease objectively, and related data about nigra and pallidum is needed for analysis. The function impairment of nigra is disseminated, which plays a leading role in the morbidity and development of Parkinson's Disease. The function impairment of pallidum is less important, but it is closely related with the asymmetry bebween the symptom and sign of Parkinson's Disease. ~1H-MRS may contribute to the treatment targe choice for some operations such as inner brain stimulation and DBS.
