| ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of transurethral prostatectomy with the bipolar transurethral plasmakinetic prostatectomy(TUPKP) and the transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) in the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH).Materials and MethodsSixty benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH) patients who underwent TURP from March 2009 to December 2010 in Hunan Lixian hospital were divided into two groups. In all,30 patients were subject to TUPKP group and another 30 patients belonged to TURP group. Before operation, the age, course of disease, volume of prostate, International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),Quality of Life Score(QOL), preoperative serum sodium, preoperative hemoglobin were compared between two groups. After operation, the weight of resected tissue, operative time, change in serum sodium and hemoglobin, time of postoperation hospital stay,complication rates, IPSS and QOL were compared between two groups. Preoperation and postoperation IPSS and QOL were compared in respective groups.ResultThere was significant difference in IPSS, QOL by TUPKP and TUPKP (P<0.05). The symptom have been improved after operation. There were significant difference in operative time, change in hemoglobin, time of postoperation hospital stay and QOL between TURP group and TUPKP group (P<0.05). TUPKP has an advantage to TURP as to decreasing operative time, blood loss and time of hospital stay and improving the quality of life. There was no significant difference in weight of resected tissue and change in serum sodium, complication rates and IPSS between TURP group and TUPKP group (P>0.05) TUPKP has the similar therapeutic safety as TURP.ConclusionsTUPKP has the similar therapeutic efficacy as TURP in BPH treatment.TUPKP is more safety than TURP. Furthermore, TUPKP has the additional advantage of reducing the operative time, time of postoperation hospital stay and blood loss and improving the quality of life. TUPKP, better than TURP, is deserved to spreading and application. |
