Objective: This article aims to research the expression of p-selectin and nm23 protein in normal ovarian tissues,benign epithelial ovarian tumor, borderline epithelial ovarian tumor and epithelial ovarian carcinomas, and study their expression levels according to different clinicopathological parameters in epithelial ovarian cancer,also study the correlations between the two proteins, to explore the role of the two in metastasis proeess in epithelial ovarian cancer, to provide a theoretical basis for the judgement of malignancy degree and assessment of prognosis,and guaid clinical treatments of epithelial ovarian carcinoma.Methods: Randomly selected 118 specimens of surgical resection ovarian tumour cases for study,which were all from The China-Japan Union Hopsital of Jilin University and Central Hospital of Changchun from January 2009 to October 2010.They included 20 normal ovarian tissues,20 benign ovarian epithelial tumors,18 borderline epithelial ovarian tumor and 60 epithelial ovarian cancers which includ 16 well-differentiated (G1) cases and 12 differentiated (G2) cases and 32 poorly differentiated (G3) cases,30 cases of I, II and 30 cases of III, IV, 25 cases of serous cystadenocarcinoma, 25 cases of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and 10 cases of endometrioid carcinoma. Detect the expression of p-selectin and nm23 protein by Immunohistochemical method and analyze them by combination of clinical and pathological data. Application of statistical analysis were carried out throughout SPSS17.0 statisticalpackageResults: 1, p-selectin was all expressed in the membrane and cytoplasm in different types of ovarian tissue,and mainly expressed in the membrane, the positive expression rates of p-selectin were 10.0%,20.0%,27.8%,63.3% respect- tively,according to the order of normal ovarian tissues,benign epithelial ovarian tumor, borderline epithelial ovarian tumor and epithelial ovarian carci- nomas, the differences between the overall were statistically significant(χ2= 25.155,P=0.000<0.01);the differences between each group were statistically signifieant(epithelial ovarian carcinomas vs normal ovarian tissues,χ2=17.067 P<0.01;epithelial ovarian carcinomas vs benign epithelial ovarian tumor ,χ2= 11.295,P<0.01;epithelial ovarian carcinomas vs borderline epithelial ovarian,χ2=7.076,P<0.01),except that the differences between borderline epithelial ovarian tumor and normal&benign epithelial ovarian tumor were no statisti- cal differences(χ2=0.618,P>0.05).2, nm23 protein was all expressed in the membrane and cytoplasm in different types of ovarian tissue,and mainly expressed in the cytoplasm, the positive expression rates of nm23 protein were 95.0%,85.0%,83.3%,55.0% respectively,according to the order of normal ovarian tissues,benign epithelial ovarian tumor, borderline epithelial ovarian tumor and epithelial ovarian carcinomas;the differences between the overall were statistically significant(χ2= 15.592,P<0.01),the differences between each group were statistically signify- cant(epithelial ovarian carcinomas vs normal ovarian tissues,χ2=10.549,P<0.01;epithelial ovarian carcinomas vs benign epithelial ovarian tumor ,χ2= 5.760,P<0.05;epithelial ovarian carcinomas vs borderline epithelial ovarian,χ2=4.696,P<0.05),except that the differences between borderline epithelial ovarian tumor and normal&benign epithelial ovarian tumor were no statisticaldifferences(χ2=0.081,P>0.05). 3, The positive expression rates of p-selectin in epithelial ovarian cancer increased,as surgical-pathologic staging progressed and histopathologic grade got lower,had no relationship with histological type, as follows: The positive expression rates of p-selectin in well and moderately differentiated epithelial ovarian carcinoma(G1+G2) is 42.9%,the same time, the positive expression rates of p-selectin in the group of poorly differentiated(G3) is 81.3%,compared among the two groups,there is significant differences (χ2=9.479,P<0.01);In the surgical-pathologic stagingI,II group and III,IV group of epithelial ovarian carcinoma , the positive expression rates of p-selectin were50.0%,76.7%, there is markedly differences between them; the positive expression rates of p-selectin in the serous cystadenocarcinoma group,the mucinous cystadeno- carcinoma group,the endometrioid carcinoma group of ovarian carcinoma respectively were 68.0%,64.0%,50.0%, compared among the three groups, there were no statistical differences.4, The positive expression rates of nm23 protein in epithelial ovarian cancer decreased,as surgical-pathologic staging progressed and histopathologic grade got lower,and had no relationship with histological type, as follows: The positive expression rates of nm23 protein in well and moderately differentiated epithelial ovarian carcinoma(G1+G2) is75.0%,the same time, the positive expression rates of p-selectin in the group of poorly differentiated(G3) is 37.5%,compared among the two groups,there is significant differences (χ2=8.485,P<0.01);In the surgical-pathologic stagingI,II group and III,IV group of epithelial ovarian carcinoma , the positive expression rates of p-selectin were73.3%,36.7%, there is markedly differences between them; the positive expression rates of nm23 protein in the serous cystadenocarcinoma group,the mucinous cystadenocarcinoma group,the endometrioid carcinoma group of ovarian carcinoma respectively were 52.0%,64.0%,40.0%, compared among the three groups, there were no statistical differences.5, in 60 cases of epithelial ovarian cancer tissues, the cases that p-selectin positively expressed and nm23 protein negatively expressed accounted for 24 cases, the cases that both positively expressed accounted for 14 cases , p-selectin negatively expressed and nm23 protein positively expressed accounted for 19 cases, both positively expressed accounted for 3 cases, the expressions were studied by Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that there was positive correlation between p-selectin and nm23 protein in epithelial ovarian carcinoma, r = -0.408, P <0.01.Conclusion:1. p-selectin may be involved in the occurrence and development of epi- thelial ovarian cancer, and plays an important role In the development of epithelial ovarian cancer.2.nm23 protein may be involved in Inhibiting the occurrence and development of epithelial ovarian cancer, and plays an important role In Inhibiting the development of epithelial ovarian cancer.3.The high p-selectin expression may promote the invasion and metastasis proeess of epithelial ovarian cancer, higher p-selectin expression, the higher the degree of malignancy, the worse the prognosis, the more easy to relapse.4.The low nm23 protein expression may promote the invasion and metastasis proeess of epithelial ovarian cancer, lower nm23 protein expression, the higher the degree of malignancy, the worse the prognosis, the more easy to relapse.5. Both p-selectin and nm23 protein took part in the invasion and metastasis proeess of epithelial ovarian cancer,and there was positive correlation between the two, detection combined the two has some value in the judgement of malignancy degree and assessment of prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer, and p-selectin and nm23 protein Can be used as Important Indicators in determining the degree of malignancy and assessing prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer.
