Objetive 1) To explore the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-7,E-cadherin and nm23-H1 in ovarian epithelial tumor and their clinical characteristics. 2) To search the relationships in MMP-7, E-cadherin and nm23-H1 in ovarian epithelial tumorMethods The expressions of MMP-7,E-cad and nm23-H1 were examined with immunohistochemical techniques from 53 cases of Epithelial Ovarian tumor (33malignant and 20 benign ovarian epithelial tumor as well as 10 surrounding normal Ovarian tissues.) in order to explore their relationships with the clinic pathological characteristicsResults 1) Positive expression with MMP-7 was predominately in cytoplasm and the positive rates in malignant ovarian epithelial tumor, benign ovarian epithelial tumor and normal Ovarian tissues were(63.6%),(30.0%) and(10.0%) respetively and the malignant groups had a significance in three groups (P<0.05) .2) The positive rate of E-cad expression in ovarian cancer was (54.5%), lower than the benign group (65.5%)and normal group (100%). There was statistical significance (H=6.741,P=0.034) in each group. And the malignant group had statistical significance with the normal group. (P < 0.01)3) The positive rate of nm23-H1 expression in ovarian cancer was( 66.7%), lower than the benign group(85.0%) and normal group (90.0%). There was statistical significance (H=8.581,P=0.037) in each group. And the malignant group had statistical significance with the normal group. (P < 0.05) 4) The positive expressions of MMP-7,E-cad and nm23-H1 were not related to the patient's age and the types of the tissues ( P > 0.05) .The expression of MMP-7 tended to increase along with the degrease of clinical staging .differentiation of tumor cells and metastasis of lymphonodes (P< 0.05); But the expressions of E-cad and nm23-H1 tended to degrease along with the degrease of clinical stage, differentiation of tumor cells and metastasis of lymphonodes. (P < 0.05)5) The expression MMP-7 had no correlation with E-cad and nm23-H1.(P > 0.05) However E-cad expression had positive correlation with nm23-H1 ,and they were related to the invasion and metastasis of ovarian epithelial tumor. (X~2 =12.964, P=0.000)Conclusions Down-regulated expressions of E-cad and nm23-H1 and upre-gulated expressions of MMP-7 play important roles in the invasion and metastasis of ovarian epithelial tumor; E-cad and nm23-H1 may sevre as effective markers of reflecting the biopathological behaviors of ovarian epithelial tumor.
