The integrated content of the theory of Four-Guan is from Linshu·Nine Needles and Twelve Source-Points. Second, followed by combination of linguistics, literature methods, in the background of Neijing theoretical research, conduct an in-depth analysis and detailed research of Four-Guan from the local to the whole and summary up its meaning and significance of theory. Third, put Four-Guan into the original text of Neijing, namely,'Twelve Source Points outflow from Four-Guan, Four-Guan treat the diseases of Five Zang-Organs', to explore its theoretical principle and the treatment in clinical practice according to related research, and to understand the meaning of Four-Guan further deeply and guide the clinical development.1. Literatural summarization of Four-Guan studyYang Shangshan, Ma Shi, Zhang Jiebin, Zhang Zhicong and so on, those who noted Neijing, gave their own opinion of Four-Guan. They had a consistent understanding of the whole, affirm that Four-Guan plays an important role in the flowing of Qi and flood. They focused on the importance of the joints of elbow and knee, stress the close relationship with Five-shu points. At the same time, they had different opinion that whether the Five-shu points belong to the category of Four-Guan, and whether consist in the shoulder joints and the hip joint. These views provide platform of theoretical Study of Four-Guan.In the history of TCM monographs after Neijing, there were little record of Four-Guan before Song Dynasty. Until Jin and Yuan Dynasties, Dou Hanqing put forward the saying of 'Opening Four-Guans to treat arthralgia due to cold or heat'in his classic of Biaoyou Fu. During noting this sentence, people referred to the content of Four-Guan again. But they tended to view Four-Guan as the two-sided Hegu and Taichong points, which made a far distance from its original meaning in Neijing.Modern literatures on the study of Four-Guan topic also tend to view Four-Guan as the two-sided Hegu and Taichong points and the treatment in clinical practice of acupuncture of these points. There are also some literatures have explored the meaning of Four-Guan, and their views are more diverse. These topics provide new material in the study of Four-Guan. 2. Explore and understand the meaning of Four-Guan.Explore the meaning of Four-Guan in three aspects:the meaning of the text itself, the meaning of the related text appeared in Neijing and the background of Linshu·Nine Needles and Twelve Source-Points and its noted text Lingshu·The Comment of Little Needles. It is concluded that Four-Guan means the points located in the limbs under the joints of elbow and knee, especially stress the Five-Shu points in these parts. When this theory used into clinical practice people choose Five-Shu points and lower combination points of six Fu-Organs mainly.3. The basis of Four-Guan when it means points Five-shu located in the end of limbsFrom theoretical and clinical aspects, this paper proves the feasibility of the theory that Four-Guan means points Five-shu located in the end of limbs. Theoretically, the thesis discusses from the circulation of Maiqi standpoint, and via the study of clinical practices of Five-shu point, this paper concluded that'Four-Guan treat the diseases of Five Zang-Organs', and prove the feasibility better.4. ConclusionFour-Guan is the end of the limbs (under the joints of elbow and knee). It is a theory stresses Five-shu points. Take the end of the limbs as root and Five-shu point for use. This theory significantly guides the clinical development.The following conclusions can be drawn according to the whole text:(1)With a wide range of research in this paper, come out the characteristics of Four-Guan theory, establishment the basic theoretical system of Four-Guan and show its rich academic connotations.(2)Four-Guan theory is closely linked with the early clinical application with distinct characteristics.The main topics of innovation embodied in the following aspects:Firstly, explore the adoption of the original meaning, to complete the theory of Four-Guan.Secondly, put Four-Guan into the background of original text and other texts in Neijing. This can help to understand Four-Guan better.Thirdly, from theoretical and clinical aspects, the research proves the feasibility of the meaning of Four-Guan, and deeply rich the content of it.
