【Objective】To observe the effect of panax notoginseng saponins on Angiotensin II in Chronic Hypoxic Pulmonary Hypertension murine models, discuss the role and possible mechanism of panax notoginseng saponins in prevention of Chronic Hypoxic Pulmonary Hypertension.【Methods】Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups (n=10). Group C:the controled group; Group H:rats were treated with hypoxia only; Group HC:rats were treated with hypoxia and captopril; and Group HP:rats were treated with hypoxia and panax notoginseng saponins. To observe the effect of panax notoginseng saponins prophylactic treatment in Chronic Hypoxic Pulmonary Hypertension rats, examine the levels of plasma Angiotensin II with radioimmunoassay (RIA), results were recorded and statistical analysised. Besides, Right Ventricular Systolic Pressure (RVSP) and Right Ventricular Mean Pressure (RVMP) were measured, Right Ventricular Hypertrophy Index were calculated, and pathological section of right ventricular were performed with hematoxylin and eosin stain (P<0.05).【Results】(1) RVSP and RVMP were significantly higher in Group H than in Group C (P<0.05), Group HP was no significant difference to the Group C. (2) Pathological section shew the primary pathological change of group H is hypertrophy of myocardial cell, Group HP was no significant difference to the Group C. (3) Right Ventricular Hypertrophy Index was higher in Group H (P<0.05), Group HP was no significant difference to the Group C. (4) AngiotensinⅡ:results shew that the plasma AngiotensinⅡlevel of group HP and group HC were no significant difference to Group C, while plasma AngiotensinⅡlevel of group H were of significant difference to Group C (P<0.05).【Conclusion】Panax Notoginseng Saponins inhibit the form of Chronic Hypoxic Pulmonary Hypertension and right ventricular hypertrophy in rats, which is possibly accomplished by inhibition the produce of AngiotensinⅡ.
