The Therapeutic Effect Of Fufang Xueshuan Tong Capsule On Diabetic Nephropathy

Objective:The subject intended to observe the influence of Fufang Xueshuantong capsule on urinary albumin, cystatin C and other laboratory indices in patients with diabetic nephropathy and the efficacy and safety of it. In order to provide a scientific basis for a new treatment of diabetic nephropathy in Chinese medicine.Methods:60 patients from the first affiliated hospital of Jinan university, Department of Endocrinology were divided into normal albuminuria group (NAU), low-grade albuminuria group(LAU), high-grade albuminuria group(HAU) and very high-grade albuminuria group (VHAU) according to the level of ACR. Fufang Xueshuantong capsule were plus to all patients: oral,3 tablets/time,3 times/day after basic treatment of 12 weeks. The course of treatment lasted for 12 weeks, during that time the changes of lab indices which included urinary albumin, blood lipids, uric acid, liver and kidney function indicators were monitored and recorded. The differences between the symptom index before and after treatment were then calculated and tested using SPSS 16.0.Results:1. After treatment, urinary albumin was significantly decreased in HAU group(P<0.001) and LAU group (P＜0.05) with statistically significant. While there's no statistical significant difference in NAU group and VHAU group (P> 0.05).2. Patients were divided into normal group and abnormal group by Cys-C level before treatment. There was no marked change of the Cys-C level in normal group patients, while after treatment, the Cys-C level of abnormal group patients decreased obviously with statistical significance (P＜0.05).3. There was no statistical significant difference before and after treatment in blood lipids, uric acid, liver and renal functions in patients who had normal lab indices stated above before treatment (P>0.05).4. Blood lipids, uric acid, liver and renal functions patients were significantly improved with statistical significant difference after treatment in patients with abnormal lab indices stated above before treatment (P< 0.05).Conclusion:Fufang Xueshuantong capsule can decrease urinary albumin, and the elevated Cys-C level, with good effect and safety. It had no significant effect on the index of patients with normal liver and kidney function while it had protection effect and lipid-lowering to the patients with abnormal liver and kidney fonctions. The present study demonstrated that Fufang Xueshuantong capsule may be used to treat DN.
