ObjectiveTo observe efficacy and safeness of apoplexy in acute stage treated by well-points needle puncture blood-letting combined with acupuncture, and preliminary exploring its mechanism for clinical research of a precise and easy to operate treatment method.Methods60 patients met the inclusion criteria of apoplexy in acute stage were randomly divided into 2 groups; well-points needle puncture blood-letting combined with acupuncture treatment group and acupuncture control group. Each group consisted of 30 patients. Two groups of patients were treated once everyday, for a total treatment for 2 weeks. Neuronal functional damage rating scale (NDS) and degree of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine integral scale were used for the assessment of therapeutic evaluation.ResultsBaseline data before treatment for 2 groups of patients by t-test and Chi-square test were comparable (P>0.05). After treatment of 2 weeks,3 cases were basically recovered in treatment group,12 cases were markedly effective, 14 cases were effective, and 1 case was ineffective. The total effective rate was 96.7%. In control group,2 cases were basically recovered, 5 cases were markedly effective,19 cases were effective, and 4 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 86.7%. Efficacy comparison between 2 groups by Ridit analysis, therapeutic effect of treatment group is better than the control group (P<0.05). Two groups of patients before and after treatment neuronal functional damage rating scale (NDS) and degree of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine integral scale both decreased significantly (P<0.01), while decreasing level in treatment group was more significant than the control group(P<0.05, P<0.01), suggested that well-points needle puncture blood-letting combined with acupuncture can be more significant in improving neuronal functional damage rating (NDS) and degree of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine of patients.ConclusionsTreatment of using well-points needle puncture blood-letting combined with acupuncture and simple acupuncture on acute stage of apoplexy can be both markedly effective, and able to improve neuronal functional damage level and degree of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine of patients. Well-points needle puncture blood-letting combined with acupuncture therapy is even more effective, and no adverse reactions occur. Treatment of using well-points needle puncture blood-letting combined with acupuncture on acute stage of apoplexy is proven effective, simple, complete and worthy to be clinically popularized.
