Objective:Based on the use the theory of TCM five elements and the Gong Yin therapy for premature infants, the research evaluated of Gong Yin therapy impact on early growth of premature infants, we want to find some safe, effective, inexpensive and convenient method to promote early growth of premature infants. Methods:Prospective randomized controlled clinical trial was designed method, ranging from January 2010 to December 2010 period, the subsidiary in Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine subsidiary maternity Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Center,34 to 36 weeks gestational age who can tolerate feeding of preterm 80 premature infants were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. Management of premature infants were treated according to the control group guidelines and specification clinics treatment group were treated on the basis of the Gong Yin therapy. The treatment began from the second day after birth, the volume condition controlled in the 40-50dB, during 30-60 minutes before feeding, every treatment lasted 30 minutes,2 times a day, and the whole treatment lasted 12 days. Respectively observed two groups of patients'body weight, length, head circumference, chest, upper arm circumference, and so on; After testing before and after treatment of plasma motilin (MOT), serum insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), serum growth hormone levels (GH), the self-control group before and after comparison with the statistical analysis; Treatments of premature infants with vital signs were observed during treatment and treatment 6 days after the end of the automatic auditory brainstem response (AABR) check conducting safety analysis. Result: 1,Before and after treatment, compared the premature infants' treated length, head circumference, chest, upper arm circumference with the control group, the relative growth value was statistically different significant (P<0.05); 2,The treatment group premature infants was significantly having higher body weight after treatment, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); 3,The treatment group plasma MOT level were higher, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); 4,The treatment group serum IGF-I levels were significantly higher, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) 5,After treatment GH treatment had no significant difference (P> 0.05); 6,IGF-I was positively correlated with body mass, body length, GH levels were not correlated with body weight, height, IGF-I levels; 7,Before and after treatment, there was no monitor vital signs in premature infants abnormalities; at the 6th day of treatment premature infants AABR treatment results were normal. Conclusion: 1,Gong Yin therapy can promote the increase of milk in premature infants, benefit length, head circumference, chest, upper arm circumference, body mass growth; 2,Gong Yin therapy can increase the level of premature infants MOT plasma, spleen and stomach health transport, improve premature infants spleen and stomach function; 3,Gong Yin therapy can improve premature infants serum IGF-I levels, premature infants body mass, body length were positively correlated to IGF-I levels; Gong Yin therapy is good to premature infants early growth; 4,For premature infants, Gong Yin therapy has no significant changes in serum GH levels; GH levels had no correlation to body weight or premature infants length; 5,Gong Yin therapy is safe and reliable.
