Objective To study the effect of exogenous apelin-13 on cardial function and the levels of the plasma AngⅡ(angiotensin-Ⅱ) and ADM(adrenomedulin) on heart failure rats which induced by Adriamycin(ADR).Methods 50 rats were random divided into 3 groups including normal control group, heart failure group and Apelin-13 therapy group. Rats heart failure models were induced by ADR injection intraperitoneally. When the models had created, the therapy groups were injected repectively with aplelin-13 for 10 days. Then we detected the cardial function and the levels of the plasma AngⅡand ADM.Results The plasma AngⅡand ADM levels were significant higher and cardial functions were lower in heart faillure and Apelin-13 therapy groups than the normal control group (all P<0.05).In apelin-13 therapy group, the LV±dp/dtmax and LVESP were higher and LVEDP were lower than those in heart failure group (all P<0.05),and the levels of plasma Ang II and ADM were attenuated (P<0.05) compared with heart failure group. Conclusion The exogenous apelin-13 can protect ADR-induced rat heart failure probably through inhibiting the levels of plasma AngⅡand ADM.
