Background: Floating population has highly Chinese characteristics. Large-scale population movements may increase the risk of HIV infection . Floating population not only become susceptible of AIDS, but also become an important medium for the spread of AIDS, the focus of China's AIDS population. AIDS prevention is not only a medical problem, but also it is a sociological problem. Recently years, Many scholars study Social capital ,more and more studies have confirmed the impact of health and social capital is an important factor in health [1]-[2]. The introduction of the social capital theory of AIDS prevention and control of floating population in order to explore whether social capital flows affect the population of AIDS prevention.Aim: This subject will explore theoretical and empirical analysis of social capital among floating population and HIV prevention features and the relationship between the proposed way to increase the use of social capital effects of AIDS prevention and control recommendations. Specific goal is to build social capital and the effects of AIDS prevention and control relationship between the theoretical framework, building social capital measurement system, the analysis of social capital among floating population status and influencing factors of social capital among floating population and HIV prevention effect relationship.Methods: Convenience sampling was used to choose the floating population of four construction sites, hotels 5 restaurants, 4 large country markets and two large enterprises in Hefei Anhui province during Sep.2010 to Apr. 2011. The questionnaires were accomplished by both face to face and self-administered ways. Using EpiData3.0 soft-ware for data entry and double entry, use the descriptive analysis SPSS15.0 software, chi-square, single factor and multi-factor logistic regression analysis statistic method to the analysis of relevant factors, so as to find the crowd the social capital and the AIDS prevention effect relationship.Results: (1)758 of the total 819 floating population were investigated, the response rate was 92.55%;(2) Social capital status: social network size of the floating population is limited; Participation of the floating population is extremely low. General characteristics of the floating population of social support are three edge-based; Floating population generally accepted of social trust.(3)Factors of social network were age, marital status, educational level, occupation, hobbies and family income and outbound manner; Factors of participation were age, marital status, education level, occupation, hours worked, alcohol, hobbies and outbound manner; Factors of social support are gender, educational level, occupation, alcohol consumption, personal and family monthly income. Factors of social trust were age, marital status, occupation, alcohol consumption, personal and family monthly income.(4)Reliability and validity of the Social Capital questionnaire: Cronbach'sαis 0.677,extracted four principal components, and can be explained by a total of 51.800% of the total variance.(5)AIDS effect among floating population: 401 people(52.9%) have a good knowledge of AIDS awareness; 597 people (78.8%) would like to learn more about AIDS-related knowledge; 550 people (72.6%) with AIDS / HIV discrimination, does not allow continuation of its work;, 276 people (66.0%) did not use condoms who have had sex in the Last year .(6)The elements of social capital and is closely related to AIDS awareness among floating population: social networks, participation and social support; The elements of social capital and is closely related to the attitude of AIDS-related knowledge: social networks and participation; The elements of social capital and is closely related to the attitude of AIDS / HIV: social support and social trust; The elements of social capital and is closely related to the behavior: participation and social trust.Conclusions: (1) The social capital questionnaire used in this study had a good reliability and validity; (2)Floating population have a weak social network, their participate level is very low, and their social support sources are limited, they trust relatives, friends and colleagues very much while their trust level to proprietor is low; (3) The influence factors of social capital were sex, age, marriage status, education level, job, working hours, drinking status, family monthly income and outbound manner; (4)Social support, social networks and social trust had a influence on two aspect of floating population's AIDS control effect, while social participation had a influence on three aspect of it; (5)There is the role of social capital, including both positive and negativeSuggestions: (1) Construct a new floating population social network; (2) Improve the social participation of floating population; (3) Give correct guidance to the non-governmental organization; (4) Improve the structure of social trust of floating population.
