Objective: To detect the level of ascitic fluid lipopolysaccharide binding protein(LBP) in cirrhotic patients complicated with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis(SBP) and noninfectious ascites, To investigate the diagnostic value of LBP for SBP.Methods: The LBP level in cirrhotic patients was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), The ascites routine and ascites culture, the blood routine, liver functions, coagulogram and Abdominal ultrasonic examination were all taken in our hospital(the second affiliated hospital of Chongqing medical university). Results: Ascites LBP level in SBP group was significantly higher than that noninfectious cirrhosis group(P<0.05), Area under ROC curves of LBP level and white blood cell count were 0.820 and 0.757respectively. The diagnostic sensitivity of SBP were 75.00% and 67.90% respectively, The accordance rate of ascitic fluid LBP combined with ascitic white blood cell to the SBP diagnosis was 71.90%.Conclusions: The ascites LBP level in SBP patients was obvious increased, The ascitic LBP level has great value to the diagnosis of SBP, The level of ascitic LBP can directly reflect whether the ascites were infected and the degree of infection, Ascitic LBP combined with ascitic white blood cell can achieve a higher accuracy for the diagnosis of SBP.
