Objective:To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of pricking blood therapy of jing-well points in acute Bell's palsy, find the feasibility and validity of early intervention of pricking blood in Jing-well points in Bell's palsy, and provide new ideas and methods to improve the clinical effect of facial paralysis. Methods: 54 patients with Bell's palsy were randomly divided into observation group and control group. Observation group were treated with pricking blood, therapy, acupuncture and medicine in acute period. Control group were treated only with the same acupuncture and medicine therapy. In the recovery period, two groups were treated with the same acupuncture therapy. Shangyang(LI 1), Lidui(ST45) were selected in pricking blood therapy and two sides were used alternately. Efficacy evaluation was carried out before and after treatment.Result: Pre-after self-comparision showed very significant difference in facial nerve function scores of two groups(P<0.01). The score of observation group was significantly better than control group. The self-comparison of pre-after treatment in single facial symptom score in both groups showed significant difference(P<0.01). The score of observation group in cheek blowing, smile and nasolabial was significantly better than control group after treatment(P<0.05). No significant difference was observed in overall efficacy rate comparison between two group, but cure rate, effectual rate, overall effective rate of observation group were higher than control group. The treatment time of the observation group was significantly shorter than control group. Conclusion: The pricking blood therapy of Shangyang and Lidui acupoint during acute period of Bell's palsy can significantly improve the facial symptoms such as cheek blowing, nasolabial sulcus and smiling, and shorten the treatment time. Two group have no significant difference in overall effect, but the effect of observation group tend to be better than control group.
