(Department of Biliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan 430030,China )Objective To approach the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis of solid-pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas(SPTP). Methods The clinical, imaging, and pathologic data of 8 SPTP patients obtained from January 2003 to June 2009 in our center were reviewed retrospectively. Results 8 cases had solid cystic masses and or intracystic calcification on CT. All the cases received laparotomy. Surgical procedures included pancreaticoduodenectomy, spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy, distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy and single tumorectomy. One patients had pancreatic fistula postoperation. No recurrent or metastases had been found in the fellow-up. Conclusion SPTP is a rare tumor with low malignant potential and has a female precedence. Symptom is unspecial. CT has comparative characteristics. Pathology after operation remains dependable for diagnosis. Surgery is the first choice of treatment and the prognosis is good if the tumor is resected completely.
