Objective: The purpose of the study was to investigate the main risk or protect factors associated with bladder cancer. Methods: We had made a hospital based case-control study in Wuhan Tongji Hospital from Oct 2005 to Mar 2009. The case group was newly diagnosed bladder cancer patients, the control group was the cotemporaneous hospital patients without urologic desease or cancer. The match ratio was 1:2. We used a standardized questionnaire to investigate the patients of smoke, diet, fluid intake and other factors. The data were statistically analyzed by using logistic model analysis. Results: 124 bladder cancer cases and 227 controls were interviewed. The association between bladder cancer and active smoking, environmental tobacco smoke exposure, 17 dietary products, 4 drinking products, and total fluid intake was assessed using single-factor logistic regression analysis. We observed that smoking, drink, vegetable consumption, fruit consumption, green tea and total fluid intake were association with the risk of bladder cancer. We statistically analyzed the six possible related factors furtherly by using multi-factor logistic regression model, it was shown that smoking was positive associated with the risk of bladder cancer, vegetable consumption, fruit consumption, green tea and total fluid intake were inversely associated with bladder cancer riskConclusion: We conclude that smoking appears to be a risk factor of bladder cancer, vegetable consumption, fruit consumption, green tea and total fluid intake are the possible protect factors of bladder cancer. We should take measures to advocate smoke abatement and health dietary pattern as to decrease the bladder cancer incidence.
