Objectives:To investigate the clinical significance of anti-β2-glycoproteinⅠ(anti-β2GPⅠ) antibodies in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) and to assess their association with lupus thrombocytopenia..Methods:Anti-β2GPⅠantibodies were tested in 108 SLE patients, 30 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and 30 healthy individuals by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The clinical features and laboratory findings were collected, and the associations of anti-β2GPⅠantibody with laboratory findings and disease activity were analyzed.Results:1. Anti-β2GPⅠantibody titers were (7.36±21.65)RU/ml in patients of the SLE group and(4.73±6.37)RU/ml in the RA group, respectively. The titers of the normal group were (2.49±3.31)RU/ml.The anti-β2GPⅠantibody titers of the SLE group were significantly higher than the normal group(P<0.05).2.Sensitivities of anti-β2GPⅠantibody were 19.44%(21/108)in SLE and 10%(3/30) in RA,respectively. The specificity of anti-β2GPⅠantibody was 90.17% in SLE.3.There are five cases with anti-β2GPⅠantibodies in 37 lupus thrombocytopenia patients. There was no significant correlation between anti-β2GPⅠantibodies and thrombocytopenia(P>0.05).4.Correlations between anti-β2GPⅠantibody and anticardiolipin antibody(ACL) were also significant (P<0.05).The incidence of C4 decline was higher in patients with anti-β2GPⅠantibodies than those patients without anti-β2GPⅠantibodies.No association was found between anti-β2GPⅠantibody and other clinical and laboratory feature. There was no statistical correlation between the concentration of anti-β2GPⅠantibody and SLEDAI scale scores(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.Anti-β2GPⅠantibody has high specificity and sensibility.2.There is no significant correlation between anti-β2GPⅠantibodies and lupus thrombocytopenia.3.Correlations between ACL and anti-β2GPⅠantibody were statistically significant. The incidence of C4 decline is higher in patients with anti-β2GPⅠantibodies than those without anti-β2GPⅠantibodies.
