Objective:(1)To observe the key location ,extent, intensity of activation and deactivation in the language functional areas when normal adult volunteers read silently the words and read the words softly with BOLD-fMRI.(2)To observe the key location ,extent, intensity of the language functional areas′s activation and deactivation when patients with aphasia read silently the words and read the words softly with BOLD-fMRI, and control with normal adult volunteers and themselves to understand the changes between their language function areas.Methods:(1)BOLD-fMRI performed during reading silently the words and reading softly the words at 23 healthy adult volunteers, observing the key location, extent, intensity of active and deactive in the language functional areas ,conducting group analysis and estimating them.(2)BOLD-fMRI performed at 23 patients with aphasia during reading the words silently, and 20 of them during reading the words softly. BOLD-fMRI of 10 patients repeated one month later. Processing the data by using SPM5 soft-ware got the maps of activation and deactivation in the language function areas.One-sample t test conducted in patients with aphasia; Two sample t test in normal adult volunteers and patients with aphasia;Paired t test conducted twice in patients with aphasia when the group analysis. On the MATLAB platform, the correlation analysis between the numbers of active voxels in Broca's area when reading the words silently and softly and aphasia grades of BDAE.Results:(1)The activation in Broca,s area and Wernicke, s area seen on the BOLD-fMRI active map at normal adult volunteers and at patients with aphasia during reading silently and softly, but wider range of activation seen at reading softly. During Reading silently right hemisphere more involved.(2)Deactivation seen in cingulate gyrus, medial prefrontal cortex, angular gyrus, cuneus,et al when normal adult volunteers and aphasia patients reading silently and softly on BOLD-fMRI deactivation maps.(3)There were more differences on BOLD-fMRI activation maps of individual aphasia patient,it could be divided into four types:①bilateral activation, healthy side>involved side;②activation of healthy side;③activation of involved side associated with the activation area shifted around;④bilateral activation, healthy side
