Background and Aim:Resistin is an adipocytokine that recently generated much inerest.Because of the fact that inflammation, endothelial cell damage or injury is invariably associated with such clinical conditions as thrombosis, atherosclerosis(AS) and their major clinical consequences, that is cardiovascular disease and resistin play a role in linking inflammation and cardiovascular disease. This study was performed to determine the levels of patients with end stage of renal disease(ESRD),assess resistin in correlation with the happen and the development of the cardiovascular diseases(CVD).and to expore the possible clinical significance in ESRD patientsMethods:70 patients were studied, included haemodialysis(HD) (n=35),peritoneal dialysis(PD)(n=20),uraemic patients without dialysis therapy(n=15).A group of 15 healthy people that gender and age matched as control. Serum concentrations of creatinine(Cr), uric acid(UA), albumn (Alb),total cholesterol(TC), triglyeride (TG), high-density lipoprotein(HDL),low-density lipoprotein(LDL),high sensitive c-reactive protein (hs-CRP),CystatinC,and fibrinogen (FIB), Hemoglobin (Hgb) were measured in all subjects. The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were estimated from the concentration of CystatinC.Serum resistin were measured by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The HD patients were divided into two groups by 24.32μg/L which determined by 95th percentile method. Informations of the cases on cardiovascular events and the results of the echocardiography in the latest 1 year were collected. At the same time, sexuality, age, dialysis duration, diastolic blood pressue (DBP), systolic blood pressme (SBP) were noted.Results:1 Serum resistin levels were higher in patients than in normal controls, (P<0.01),Patients treated by both HD and PD exhibited resistin concentrations higher than those found in uraemic patients without dialysis therapy, (P<0.01). There was no significense between HD and PD patients (P>0.05)2 The resistin level of HD patients showed a positive correlation with dialysis duration,Scr,TC,CRP, FIB and negative correlation with eGFR,HDL. The resistin level of PD patients showed a positive correlation with dialysis duration, Scr,CRP, FIB and negative correlation with eGFR.3 The resistin level of the cases with cardiovascular events were higher than the cases without cardiovascular events in PD patients (p<0.05);But no significant differece was found in HD patients nor without dialysis patients (P>0.05)4 In HD patients,23 patients showed elevated resistin levels. As left ventricular structure indicators.the level of Left atrial diameter(LA),Left ventricular end diameter (LVEDD), Interventricular septum thickness (IVST), Left ventricular wall thickness (LPWT), left ventricular mass index (LVMI) were higher in the elevated group than in the low level group(p<0.01),while the diastolic function of E/A is lower than the low resistin level group(p<0.01).In the NYHA Cardiac function, the low group showed a better result than the elevateded group(p<0.01).Conclusion:1 The serum resistin levels of ESRD patients are higher than nomal peple;patients under dialysis therapy has higher level than without;HD and PD patients has no diference.2 The serum resistin plays a role in the inflamation, dyslipidemia and information of the AS,it'level was affected by dialysis duration and residual renal function.3 There is a clinically relevant relationship between serum resistin level and cardiovascular diseases.
