Objective:Non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an clinical pathological syndrome characterized by diffused hepatic macros teatosis including simple fatty liver and non alcoholic steatosis hepatitis (NASH) and cirrhosis. Recently, the incidence of NAFLD has increased year by year with the change of life style and diet structure and has become an global disease. At the present, the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of NAFLD has not still reach a unified conclusion. We systemically reviewed hepatic steatosis related articles published in recent years both in TCM and western medicine and analized the disease from diff erent perspectives including etiology.mechanism and treatment. To study the relation between the traditional Chinese medicine zheng-different ttaton claffication of non alcoholic fatty liver disease and age, sex,BMI and lipids and analys the character of TCM zheng-differentiation claffication. Methods:we collected information of a total of 100 diagnosed NAFLD cases hospitall ized in China-Japan friend hospital from Jan 2009 To Dec 2010. All the patients were claffied by zheng-differention, we coltedted the general information, clinical manifestation,BMI,serum lipid, described the distribution of zheng-differentiation,age,sex and symptoms and analized the relationship between zheng-differentiation and BMI & serum lipids. Results:In the zheng-differention claffication of NAFLD, the stagnation of phlegm-damp is the most common type in both general population and in male, the ratio of yin deficiency of both liver and kidney grew with age. Obese are more serious in the stagnation of phlegm-damp and the damp-heat type. Increased serum TG occurred in all types of zheng-differention classes, especially in the stagnation of phlegm-damp type; Serum CHO and LDL-C were increased in the yin deficiency of both liver and kidney.Conclution:In the zheng-differention claffication of NAFLD, the stagnation of phlegm-damp is the most common type which may be associated with the relationship among liver, spleen, kidney and sputum-moisture factors.Factors such as sex, age,BMI and serum lipids should be considered in the zheng-differentiation of NAFLD.
