Objective: The people of succumbing to cerebrovascular accident is the second in our country. The first is malignant tumor. The cerebrovascular disease (CVD) includes cerebral arterial thrombosis and hemorrhagic apoplexy. The cerebral arterial thrombosis called stroke. Artherosclerosis (AS) is a kind of basic pathological changes in morphology and function on arteries of lots of the CVD. It shows thickening endarterium and atheromatous plaque in morphology, lower complaisance and higher rigidity in function. Ultrasound technique can examine As in morphology, function and hemodynamics. The aim of this study is to find a more reliable method to predicate the early functional change of the arteries before any morphological change by measuring the elasticity of the lacunar infarction and transient ischemic attack (TIA).Methods:1 The study included 120 patients with cerebral arterial thrombosis in the forth Hospital of Hebei Medical University between Dec.2008 to Oct.2009. It included the lacunar infarction 60 patients(C group) and the multiple cerebral arterial thrombosis 60 patients(D group). The third were TIA , included 30 patients(B group). And thirty healthy people were as the normal control group(A group).2 The common carotid artery(CCA)of four groups were tested by ALOKAα-10 ultrasound diagnostic apparatus. The intima-media thickness (IMT), the number of plaque, the inner diameter of artery were recorded. The data were compared with control groups.3 The correlativity of age and IMT was analyzed.4 The peak forward velocity in systole, the resistance index (RI) and the pulsatility index (PI) were measured. The data were compared with control groups. And both comparison were done.5 The elasticity parameterβ,Eρ,AC,AI,PWVβwere measured with e-tracking(ET) techniques. And both comparison were done with the control group.6 Group B, Group C and D were divided to three groups based on the IMT less than 1.0 mm. We compared the ET parameter of these groups with the control group.Results:1 The IMT of Group C and Group D were thicher than Group B and A ,and discovered inequality of size of plaque. The thicker IMT and the plaque rate and the stenosis of Group C and D were higher than Group B and A (P <0.05). There were no statistical significance between Group D and Group C, Group B and Group C, but there were raising tendency.2 The IMT of the common carotid artery in all patients were positively correlated with age.3 The common carotid artery RI and PI of Group C and Group D were higher than Group B and A (P <0.05). Between Group D and Group C, Group B and Group C were no statistical significance, but there were raising tendency.4 The ET parameterβ,Eρ,AI,PWVβof Group D and Group C were higher than Group A,β,Eρ,PWVβwere higher than Group B. Theβof Group B higher than Group A (P <0.05).5 The ET parameterβ,Eρof the IMT<1.0mm in Group C and D were higher than Group A (P <0.05). Group B and Group B were no statistical significance, but there were raising tendency. Conclusions:The 2D and color Doppler ultrasound can test the pathological changes of the common carotid artery in the CVD, to find the CVD early. The IMT increasing is consistent with the increasing of age. The elasticity of the lacunar infarction and the multiple cerebral arterial thrombosis was lower than control group. The lower elasticity of common carotid artery in TIA patients had raising tendency. The the functional change is early than morphological change in AS.
