Objective:1) To observe the chemotherapy-delayed rate,the chemotherapy-passed rate and the serum level of free DNA with chemotherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine compound feitai capsules in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).2) To analyse change of serum free DNA and its clinical significance in patients with advanced NSCLC.Methods:A total of 60 IIIB/IV stage NSCLC patients who had been diagnosed by pathology were randomly divided into the treatment group(30 cases) and the control group(30 cases) by envelope method. Patients in the treatment group were treated by chemotherapy with Feitai capsule(5 per time, tid) and patients in the control group only received chemotherapy. The chemotherapy-delayed rate and the chemotherapy-passed rate expressed by percents were evaluated after each cycle. In addition,30 healthy people were included as a health control group. With them, the change of serum free DNA in patients with advanced NSCLC before and after chemotherapy was analysed.Results:1) The chemotherapy-passed rate was 96.42% in the treatment group, while in the control group, it was 74.07% (P<0.05). The chemotherapy-delayed rate was 3.57% in the treatment group, while in the control group, it was 14.8%(P>0.05).2) Compared with the control group, the serum levels of free DNA dropped significantly in those with feitai capsule (P<0.05).3) There was an interaction between change of serum free DNA in these patients and their clinical efficacy, that is, levels would drop when their response evaluation was SD or PR orCR, and vice versus.4) Compared with healthy people, the serum levels of free DNA in patients with III/IV NSCLC were significantly higher (218.67±95.734ng/ml vs.11.30±3.80ng/ml, P<0.001).5) There was a positive correlation between the serum levels of free DNA in patients with advanced NSCLC and their TNM stage. The value was 255.88±93.28ng/ml with IV stage versus 157.10±53.50ng/ml with III stage (P<0.05).6) There were interactions among the serum levels of free DNA in patients with advanced NSCLC and their pathological types,organ metastasis. However, no interactions were found among smoking,sex and age.Conclusion:1) Feitai capsule can increase the chemotherapy-passed rate in patients with advanced NSCLC. Also it can strengthen chemotherapy efficacy.2) The serum levels of free DNA may become important symbols in prediction for clinical effect and TNM stage.
