| Objective:To study the effect of acupuncture on the full intelligence quotient(FIQ) and adap-tive behavior quotient (ADQ) for children with Mental Retardation(MR), and identify the therapeutic effect on acupuncture on the main piont DU 1 for children with Ment-al Retardation(MR), and find a new method for treatment of mental retardation.Methods:The children patients with Mental Retardation(MR) divided into A and B groups randomly depending up table of random digit.The one of which is acup-uncture on th-e main piont DU 1 (n=19) and the other is traditional scalp acup-uncture(n=21); Treat ment group:choose adequate needle, acupuncture at DU 1,pinpoint towards head,after we can feel tight and unsmooth, repeated it 20 ti-mes, not leave needles inserted.Contr-ol group:acupuncture at EX-HN1,MS1, M-S3,MS6,MS7,MS13, MS12.After depi,twirli-ng for half a minute at the frequenc-y of 180-200 times per minute, retaining needle for every 10 minutes, retainin-g needle for 20 minutes. twice a week(Tuestay or Frida-y afternoon),considered twenty-four times(three month) as a cour-se of treatment."Wee-hsler Seal" was used to test the full intelligence quotient(FIQ) and"Infants-junior Midd-le School Student Sociallife Ability Scale" was used to test the adaptive behavior qu-otie(ADQ). Before and after treatment, FIQ andADQ were assessed and compared.Get and arrangement the data together. The date was statistically analyzed by using Statis tical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 13.0).Results:1.The difference of full intelligence quotient(FIQ) in the therapy group before and after treatment was observed, the difference of of FIQ in the control group before and after treatment was also observed; and we gain the statistieal significance on verbal intelligence quotient(VIQ) in therapy group after therapy (P<0.05), but performance intelligence quotient(PIQ) and ADQ in treatment group and control group had not demonstrated statistieal significance (P>0.05).2. Three months later,FIQ,VIQ,PIQ and ADQ between the treatment group and control group have no difference respectively (p>0.05). conclusion:1. Cupuncture on the piont DU 1 with mental retardation can improve the level of FIQ;while its effort on VIQ is more significance.2. Cupuncture on the group traditional scalp acupuncture with mental retardation can improve the level of IQ;3.Both acupuncture on the piont DU1 and traditional scalp acupuncture on treating children with mental retardation they have a considerable effect; FIQ and ADQ in treatment group and control group had not demonstrated statistieal significance. |
