Objective:To compare the change of left heart function in patients with biological valves replacement with mechanical valve replacement. Methods:Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular fractional shortening (LVFS), and peak pressure gradients across aortic valve in 42patients with aortic valve disease receiving biological valves replacement (biological valves group) were studied by Doppler echocardiography before the operation and in 30 days after operation. The results were compared with those of 60 patients who received mechanical valves replacement (mechanical valves group),and 32 patients received imported mechanical valves(imported group),28 patients who received mechanical valves made in China(made in China group). Results:Comparing with those before operation, there was increase in LVEF, LVFS, There was reduction in peak pressure gradients across aortic valve in all patients. LVEF, LVFS between biological valves group and imported group (54.09%±10.06% vs.58.82%±10.28%; 31.42%±10.20% vs.31.49%±6.82%)showed no significant difference in 30 days after operation (P>0.05). And peak pressure gradients across aortic valve33.36 mmHg±14.89mmHg vs.23.84 mmHg±10.91mmHg.It shows difference between biological valves group and imported group(P<0.05).LVEF, LVFS between biological valves group and made in China group (54.09%±10.06% vs. 53.30%±12.05%; 31.42%±10.20% vs.28.68%±7.88%) showed no significant difference in 30 days after operation (P>0.05). And peak pressure gradients across aortic valve33.36mmHg±14.89mmHg vs.23.93 mmHg±8.70mmHg,It shows difference between biological valves group and made in China group p(P<0.05). Conclusion:Patients with aortic valve disease receiving biological valves or mechanical valves have the same effecting in LVEF, LVFS, but there is different effecting in peak pressure gradients across aortic valve between biological valves and mechanical valves.
