Objective: :To study the changes of OMgp activity in motoneurons of rat facial nucleus after the left facial nerve injury. The results suggest that OMgp may be a promising target for gene therapy of Facial paralysis. Methods:Healthy 36 SD rats were used in this study, weighing 200-250g, were randomly divided into six groups, each group adopted the facial nerve transection which on the left stylomastoid foramen , the right to give the same surgical procedure, but do not cut the facial nerve, by the aortic puncture and perfusion fixed after 1,3, 5,7,14,21d , about 2mm brain stem tissue was cut, from rat brain stem containing the facial nucleus part of consecutive coronal sections after embedding and applied immunohistochemistry and in situ end labeling (TUNEL) detect the facial nucleus in the expression of OMgp and influence of the neuronal apoptosis.Results:1. There were OMgp—immunoreactivity(IR)in normalfacial nucleus. Immunoreactivity analysis showed a down-regulation of OMgp expression in the facial nucleus 5–14(protein) days after transection. Facial nerve axotomy resulted in the changes of OMgp expressions and facial neuronal apoptosis. the content of omgp under image analysis was decreaced compared with control group (P
