Objective To discuss the diagnotic value and feasibility of ultrathin transnasal esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD).Methods The patients receiving diagnostic EGD were randomly assigned to 2 groups: ultrathin transnasal EGD (groupA, n=80) and conventional transoral EGD (groupB, n=80). The blood pressure, heart rates, blood oxygen saturation were recorded and monitored before and during the procedure through electrocardiogram monitor.Result No significant difference was found in drop of arterial oxygen saturation both the two groups. Increases in heart rates, blood pressure, group A were significantly lower than those in group B.Conclusion Ultrathin transnasal EGD does not touch the lingual root, it has more toleration, better security and more extensive clinical application prospects.
